Case Studies
Here are a few examples of projects we have worked on:
Site: residential extension
Proposal: A narrow site with large retaining walls that made access challenging for residents. It was proposed that the retaining walls be realigned to improve site usability.
Issues: A large offsite tree with a Root Protection Area (RPA) that extended through the Site, restricting how the retaining walls could be altered.
Solution: Engagement with the local planning authority and careful exploration of the RPA to identify the levels of rooting associated with high-impact areas. It was agreed with the LPA that the walls could be moved to a suitable location, as shown in this image.
Customer Review: “Jack is a fantastic Arboricultural consultant. Very good communication throughout the process, very knowledgeable, understanding the client's needs and outstanding reports. Even I had a difficult position to sort things out jack made it so easy on detailing and submission of the tree reports to the council and had a very good follow-up and completed the application successful.”
Site: 5 new residential properties
Proposal: A small site with significant ground-level changes from one side to the other. The scheme was approved for 5no. new plots before Origin was asked to assist with the onsite supervision of the tree elements.
Requirements: A TPO beech tree located on the boundary and concerned neighbours, requiring support and reassurance that the tree elements were being carefully monitored.
Solution: Regular site visits from the Arboricultural Clerk of Works (ACoW) to ensure compliance with the approved Arboricultural Method Statement and the installation of an above-soil-surface for the road.
Customer Review: “Jack provides a very professional service. His communication is excellent with a fast turnaround and high standard of work. Would recommend.”
Site: Residential Extension
Proposal: A small rural cottage located near the edge of an ancient woodland, with a proposal to extend the building and revise the boundary retaining wall.
Issues: The cottage was identified as having bat roosting potential and further surveys were required to determine if it was being used and the potential nature of that use.
Solution: 3no surveys were carried out over the course of the bat surveying season and it was determined that no further action was required. Planning was then granted and work could begin on construction.
Customer Review: “Jack and his team at Origin Environmental always deliver high quality, consistent and relevantly detailed reports, advice and consultancy on all arboricultural matters. We have continued relationships as a result and highly recommend their services to others.”
